Hi everyone! I'm working on several projects at the same time right now and none of them are quite ready to post yet.
I know what you're thinking. Why not finish one project before starting the next? Well... that might work in a perfect world, but not in my world. lol.
But I had one post ready and saved for a day just like this. So here's my doily wall art project that I did a little while ago.
I'm always looking for creative ways to use crocheted doilies because I find them everywhere for insanely cheap prices.
Last summer I found this large 30" ruffled blue and white handmade doily at a garage sale for $1. The older gentleman who was having the garage sale said his wife crocheted it years ago.
A few months later I found this large embroidery hoop at a thrift store for $1. It also measured 30" across.
I removed the inside hoop and glued the doily to it with my glue gun. First I did a spot at the top and bottom, then each side.
Then I worked my way around, alternating sections as I glued so they would be evenly spaced.
I didn't spray paint the hoop before I glued the doily on because I knew I was spray painting the whole thing red. I used Krylon Fusion red, and the doily took the paint very well.
Tada!! It really looks great against the white background. I love red!!
It doesn't have to be expensive to create interesting pieces to decorate a room. This was a quick, easy, and cheap project, and I think it turned a traditional ruffled doily into a modern piece of art.
Thanks so much for reading! Have a happy day!
I'm sharing this post with these awesome parties .
